Termite Chemical Sprays

There are two main types of chemical sprays used to eliminate termites. One acts as a protective zone or known as a repellent which is sprayed or injected around the perimeters and under concrete slabs, to prevent termites from entering a home or building. The other targets the central nervous system and disrupts their ability to reproduce. This is known as a non-repellent chemical. When sprayed, the termites take the termiticide back to their nests and through social interaction, infect other termites beginning the elimination process.

We recommend regular termite inspections as part of a preventative maintenance plan to ensure that these chemical barriers remain effective. We may need to reapply chemical barriers to ensure ongoing protection of your home or building as all chemicals have a life expectancy.

Pest Police use a range of environmentally friendly termite treatments that comply with Australian Standards. These treatments can last up to 8 years but we recommend an annual termite inspection to ensure their effectiveness and manufacturer warranty.

NEW HOMES AND BUILDINGS

For new buildings, we can add a chemically treated layer of soil around the perimeter along with a physical barrier option for plumbing penetration pipes and concrete slabs. The termiticide may be applied to the soil under the slab and around the footings, construction joints, pipes, conduits, and other structures of the house or building to create a horizontal barrier. This integrated approach provides a highly protective and long-lasting solution against termite invasion.

EXISTING HOMES AND BUILDINGS

The perimeter of the house, the soil, stumps, and accessible service facilities, are treated in existing homes or buildings to form a protective barrier. When termites attempt to forage through the treated soil, they encounter the termiticide, which either repels them or causes mortality upon contact. This disrupts their ability to access the structure to prevent future infestations.
